A couple of days ago I started learning how to create skins for the Window's Media Player. WMP uses XML and Java scripts, both of which I know very little of. I'm frustrated that there isn't more tutorials and information about skinning WMP. Microsoft has a free downloadable skinning guide and tutorial named Windows Media SDK( software development kit). I can make a basic skin with buttons and video that work but haven't learned how to make make it resizable yet for watching videos. The skins that come with the Media Player are basically broken up into four corner pieces and four side pieces. The side pieces are tiles that expand and contract when resizing the window. I will have to learn more Java in order to achieve my goal. There appears to be a lot more tutorials and information on skinning Winamp so I'll be looking at those to see what I can or can't learn, and speaking of Winamp, Leo's Lyrics has a great plugin that displays the lyrics for whatever song your playing. Anyone can submit song lyrics to Leo's data base, I submitted the lyrics to several of my favorite songs. Anyways, learning to skin is my latest project and I already pulled half of my hair off my head !! Oh well, if I go bald form this project at least I won't have to pay for anymore haircuts. :) |
